The Principal’s Closing Remarks
A smiling man in a gray suit and patterned tie poses for a portrait.

To My Union Park Family,

It took me a moment to muster up the emotional stamina to write this.

In OCPS, we often say, “this isn’t goodbye—it’s see you later.” And while that brings comfort, we also recognize that moments like this carry deep meaning. This school has been more than a place of learning—it has been a home. A place where students discovered who they are, where staff poured their hearts into every lesson, and where families trusted us with what mattered most.

Over my time as your principal, I have had the honor of witnessing something truly special. I’ve seen resilience in action. I’ve seen compassion rise in difficult moments. I’ve seen excellence, not just in academics, but in character—Integrity, Respect, Perseverance, and Unity, our Core Valueslived out daily.

This year, especially, has not been easy. Change rarely is. But what defines us is not the challenge—it’s how we rise in response. And this community rose with strength, grace, and unwavering commitment to one another.

To our students—you are the heart of this school. Carry what you’ve learned here with pride. Let these experiences shape your future, and never forget where your journey began.

To our staff—you are the soul of Union Park. Your dedication, your sacrifices, and your belief in our students have created something lasting—something that no closure can ever erase. You have made a difference that will echo for years to come.

To our families and community—you have been our partners, our advocates, and our support system. Thank you for trusting us, standing with us, and believing in our mission.

A school is not defined by its walls—it is defined by its people. And while these doors may close, the impact of Union Park Middle School will continue in every student who walks forward with confidence, in every educator who leads with purpose, and in every family that carries these memories forward.

This is not the end of our story—it is the continuation of it in new places, new schools, and new opportunities.

So, I don’t just say farewell.

We celebrate.

We honor.

We remember.

And we look ahead with pride.

Union Park will forever be a part of who we are.

Thank you for allowing me to serve you, to grow with you, and to be a part of this extraordinary journey.

Remember, it's Every Day! Every Student! Every Step... Closer to Greatness!

With Union Park Pride,
Aski-Melik Brown
Principal
